Agency For Persons With Disabilities

In October, 2004, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) became an agency separate from the Department of Children and Families, specifically tasked with serving the needs of Floridians with developmental disabilities.  The primary mission of APD is to support persons with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working, in all aspects of community life.

The APD works in partnership with local communities and private providers to assist people who have developmental disabilities and their families.  Agency goals include ensuring the well-being and safety of the people served, and maximizing self-sufficiency through the programs provided, as well as improving consumer outcomes and service quality.

APD application and service information can be accessed through visiting the Agency for Persons with Disabilities web site.
